What Is Colorimetry?

Colorimetry is the systematic process of accurately prescribing precision tinted lenses from thousands of possible colour combinations. The Intuitive Colorimeter allows us to determine the exact hue, saturation, and brightness of colour that alleviates symptoms of visual stress, migraines, and other neurological symptoms.

Who Should Have Colorimetry?

Colorimetry is suitable for both adults and children and is recommended on a case-by-case basis. The specialist optometrist will only recommend Colorimetry following an initial Visual Stress and reading Assessment and the successful use of a coloured overlay for at least 3 months.

What Happens During a Colorimetry Assessment?

Under the supervision of our specialist optometrist, you will be guided through a systematic process of selecting a precision tint that alleviates the symptoms of visual stress. A colourimetry assessment lasts approximately 30 minutes and allows the optometrist to assess the effectiveness of a precision colour in relieving symptoms.

What Happens After a Colorimetry Assessment?

Once a precision colour is identified to alleviate symptoms, tinted trial lenses are then combined to assess the clinical benefits of the chosen colour under conventional lighting. The prescribed tint is then precisely produced by specialist laboratories and fitted to your selected frames. The lenses are dyed to a degree of accuracy beyond that of regular ophthalmic tinting and are issued with a certificate of authenticity.

The appropriate tinted spectacles will make reading much easier and more comfortable; in fact, the effect has been described by some as “magical!”
