The Platinum Eye Examination is designed for patients with a complex ocular history or those who require a second opinion. Utilising the most advanced investigative technology available, the Specialist Optometrist will create a bespoke examination, tailored to your specific symptoms and requirements.
If you have experienced health issues that can impact your vision and eye health a Platinum Eye Examination is essential to ensure early diagnosis of conditions, monitor existing conditions, and give our highest level of care to patients with complicated medical and ocular needs.

Everyone! - The Platinum examination is our most popular examination and is designed for those patients of any age, looking for a comprehensive examination.
The examination is designed around your specific requirements. It is recommended for all patients to give a baseline examination of the health of your eyes.
In addition, the Platinum examination is recommended as a starting examination for the following:
Complex Ocular History – Patients with a diagnosed eye condition such as Retinitis pigmentosa (RP) or Keratoconus. As well as patients with a high, complex prescription, or those seeking second opinions.
Patients on medication known to affect their eye health - such as arthritic medication, steroids, heart medication, or undergoing immunosuppressant treatment.
Patients with a complex neurological medical history - including patients who have experienced strokes or mini-strokes.
Diabetics – Patients who have been diagnosed with diabetic eye disease, (medically known as diabetic retinopathy).
Patients with a family history of eye disease Age-related Macular Degeneration or Retinal Diseases. - patients with a family history of eye disease are more susceptible to being diagnosed with the same condition(s), especially over the age of 40. These patients require additional tests and a longer appointment to carefully monitor for any changes to their eye health.

Platinum Eye Examination Cost: £150 - £250*
Please note: Patients are likely to have dilation drops administered that can cause blurred vision, patients should be advised not to drive after the appointment for up to 4 hours.
Platinum examination technology is an indicator for assessments that are available during the examination, and not all technology is used in every examination.
Tests performed are at the sole discretion of the optometrist but a Platinum Eye Examination will always include a Heidelberg OCT examination and intra-ocular pressures.
* Fees may differ as your medical history and clinical findings may indicate additional examinations that will be needed. The Optometrist will discuss additional fees before proceeding with additional tests.
